My passion for health and wellness was sparked when I began my Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2022. I was instantly drawn to the impact that simple habits and lifestyle changes could have for improving one’s health.
The development of AHealthBalance began in January 2024 after the passing of my father at the young age of 55. He passed away due to a lack of awareness and understanding of health literacy and growing up in an environment that promoted unhealthy and unsustainable lifestyle habits that lead to his poor health.
My family and I grew up on a cattle farm in a very small town of 400 people. We were a family of 13 and struggled to obtain quality food, adequate medical care, access to mental health resources, and we lacked a basic understanding of the importance and purpose of how to care for our bodies and minds. All of which heavily impacted our families’ mental and physical wellbeing.
Both of my parents worked two jobs throughout our entire childhood to support our large family. They did the best they could with the limited resources they had, but it wasn’t enough to counter the learned behaviors and lifestyle that was leading to negative health outcomes.
My passion and need to further understand health and wellness grew substantially when we lost two other members of my family to suicide a few months after my father’s passing. Experiencing this drastic loss with my family set fire to my need to understand how and what I could do to address our complications with mental and physical health.
I share these tragedies with you to give an insight as to why I am so passionate and believe so strongly the importance of the full picture of health and wellness. It is about more than fitness; it is about how interconnected each aspect of the mind and body are in relation to health maintenance and disease prevention through lifestyle habits and behaviors.
This program was developed to work with you as an individual to gain understanding of your background, relationship with health & wellness, habits, current practices, and how we can add to or adjust your current lifestyle for a longer, healthier and happier life.
I want to not only show you what we can change together, but the goal by the end of the program is for you to have an in depth understanding of the “WHY” and “HOW”. My passion is in education and sharing knowledge to grow a deeper understanding in restoring and maintaining health and preventing future ailments, pain and disease in ways that are fully in our control with natural, research backed methods. This program will teach you to listen to your body, mind and emotions to gain back control of your health and happiness through changes with diet, exercise, sleep, breathwork, habit development, and pain management.
